Origin
Original Location: ʾAsir Matirā↗
Second half of the 15th - mid 16th century (?). Additiones 7 and 14 refer to the role of King Zarʾa Yāʿqob (r. 1434-1468) and Bishop (here called ṗāṗās) Yoḥannǝs in the foundation of the monastery, but it is written in a later hand. The latter arrived to Ethiopia in 1438-1439 (bearing the title ʾeṗisqoṗos), together with metropolitans Mikāʾel and Gabrǝʾel (after 1458 , there was no bishop in Ethiopia, see ). Additio 7 contains references to ʾAbakarazun of Gabra Garzan (ca. 1394-1476).Provenance
Additio 7 mentions tǝgre makʷannǝn role: title ʾAkkalom donor as the donor.

( en ) And the number of the feasts of Our Lord is nine great feasts: His Conception, His Birth, His Circumcision, His Baptism, His Crucifixion, His Resurrection, His Ascension, the feast of the Holy Spirit, Dabra Tābor. The birth of Simon is equivalent to the Circumcision. Baptism is the Christian law, and the spiritual law. Baptism is established for all, for men and women. The women should not accept the men, and the men (should not accept) the women who are ʾabbālǝğ (?). And they should not make marriage with their (god) father who took charge of it, and with the rest of his lineage – neither the one who baptizes, nor the one who is being baptized (?). I t is prohibited by the word of the 12 Apostles. And you, priests, baptize woman on the 80th day and men on the 40th day. Do not leave and do not transgress (this regulation). When it is Baptism, do not eat butter on the second day (Monday) but eat what is eaten on fasting days, on the day of the first Sabbath.
The term( gez ) አባልጅ
probably refers to god-children of the same god-father. -
