( The Syriac mss. contain Rêšê dîḏaʽṯâ i.e., “Chapters of
Knowledge” (Beulay 1978: 262) which were rendered into Gǝʿǝz as ʾArʾǝsta
ʾaʾǝmro (“Chapters of Knowledge” or “Heads of Knowledge”). In front
of the title, the Ethiopian translator added "dǝrsān baʾǝnta" and
retained the plural form of "ʾarʾǝst". For that reason in some
catalogues of Ethiopic mss. a translation “Homilies on the heads of
knowledge” may be encountered (s. e.g., BLorient 529, EMML 1937, EMML 2838,
EMML 4043).)
