The colophon states that the Ms. was completed during the time of King ʾIyāsu and Metropolitan Mārqos, probably King ʾIyāsu I (r. 1682-1706) and ʾabuna Mārqos IV (in tenure from 1698) (cp. EAE III, 250a).Provenance
Za-Walda Māryām is mentioned as the commissioner of the Ms. in the subscriptio on check the viewer208r and in some supplication formulas (e.g., check the viewer160va , 160vb, 161rc, 162rc, 183rc, 197rc, 197va) in the final part of the Ms. In the supplication on check the viewer160va , he is mentioned together with "the children of this church" (daqiqa zatti beta krǝstiyān). The Ms. was written in 1699 A.D. In this note, in fact, it is written that this book has been completed in the year 7191 from the Creation of the World, in the time of the Evangelist Luke, on the 28 of ʾabaqte and on the 2nd of ʾabaqte warḫ (maṭqǝ?) (cp. ChChron 168). King ʾIyāsu and Metropolitan Mārqos must be King ʾIyāsu I (r. 1682-1706) and ʾabuna Mārqos IV, the latter was installed by ʾIyasu after ʾabuna Sinodā's death in 1698 (cp. EAE III, 250a). Some four lines at the end have been erased.

Fine, regular.The handwriting is fine (but not quite uniform), with rounded letters' shapes, slightly curved vertical strokes, pronounced serifs. Some peculiar and/or archaic features: - ጵ has the 6th order marker set up on the vertical stroke at the top, directed to the left (e.g., check the viewer206rb l.2) - መ, in the 1st and 2nd orders, has the right loop slightly raised high above the ruled line (e.g., check the viewer104vb l.2, 127rb, l.5) - ፮ is with the loop open, looking like “compressed” ፯ (e.g., check the viewer17vb , 18rb, 118ra, 124r) - ፼ is with the ligature (e.g, check the viewer188ra ) - x-cross with or without dashes is used several times, after the titles of the books and of the sections (e.g., check the viewer176rb , 204vc).
Ink: Black; red (vivid red; strong red for the names over erasures).
Rubrication: Holy names.
