Before 1667
It is the second part of the Synaxarium described in London, British Library, BL Oriental 657 element TEI with id BLorient657.
Provenance
The manuscript had very probably belonged to a church in the Gondar↗ area, from where it was taken by Tewodros II and brought to Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ . It was then looted by the British Napier expedition in 1868.

Text in Gǝʿǝz ሰላም፡ ለዝክረ፡ ዘበመጽሐፈ፡ ሕግ፡ ተሐተመ፡ ወለሰዕርትከ፡ ሜላት፡ ዘእምፈትለ፡ ሥጋ፡ ተአንመ፡
The attribution of the hymn to John the Baptist is based on Wright 1877. However according to Chaîne 1913a it is addressed to John the Evangelist, whereas Getatchew Haile and Macomber 1983ascribes it to emperor Yoḥannǝs I .
