19th century, possibly its second half. The manuscript was commissioned by ʾƎqʷǝba Mikāʾel , according to Colophon 1 , item 1 ; his name is mentioned elsewhere in supplication formulas (e.g., check the viewerfol. 1rb .

(Due to the misplaced leaves, this beginning corresponds to Conti Rossini 1903a. The leafcheck the viewerfol. 9ra contains the actual incipit of the work, [በስመ፡ አብ፡ ወወልድ፡ ወመንፈስ፡ ቅዱስ፡ ፩ አምላ]supplied by Denis Nosnitsinክ፡ ዝውእቱ፡ መጽሐፈ፡ ገድሎሙ፡ ለጻድቃን፡ […]ommission by መዋእሊሁ፡ ለአ[]ልሜድ፡ ንጕሰ፡ ኢትዮጵያ።. The text on check the viewerfols. 17vb, ends with words immadiately preceeding that on check the viewerfol. 1ra , ተፈሥሑ᎓ እስመ᎓ አምሰጡ፡ (Conti Rossini 1903a). The text of the Vita seems to be quite similar to the one published in Conti Rossini 1903a, but slightly shorter, the end (እስከ᎓ ይገንዩ᎓ ፀር᎓ ለዓለመ፡ ዓለም፡ አሜን፡) corresponding to Conti Rossini 1903a. The rest of the edited text is missing in (the passages in Conti Rossini 1903a that start with ስምዑኬ᎓ እንግርክሙ᎓ ሀለወት᎓ ምድር᎓ and ንግባእኬ᎓ ኀበ᎓ ክብራ᎓ ለመጠራ᎓). Besides, the Vita differs from the edited text in that it is styled as the “Vita of the Righteous Ones of Dabra Maʿṣo” in Colophon 1 , item 1 . In a couple of passages the name Bāraknāhā↗ has been substituted to for Dabra Maʿṣo↗ (see check the viewerfol. 12 vb , l.17, with other slight changes; (unreadable but unlikely Bāraknāhā↗ on check the viewerfol. 1rb , l.4; however, Bāraknāhā↗ has been left unchanged in check the viewerfol. 9vb , l.1). )Colophon

Both boards are missing. The leaves are misplaced, at least one is missing. The correct sequence of the text leaves would probably be check the viewerfols 9ra–17rb, (incipit on check the viewer9ra, ), check the viewer1ra–6ra, (explicit on check the viewer6ra, ), check the viewer7ra–8vb, (the position of the quires would be vice versa). Many leaves are strongly affected by humidity, extensive portions of the text are not readable. The condition of the incipit leaf (check the viewer9 ) is very poor indicating that the boards lack for a long time or possibly were never there. The sewing seems to be secondary, the sewing stations are used not in the regular way.

Rubrication: Divine names; name of the donor and scribe; groups of lines, alternating with black lines, in the incipit page of Text I and in the incipit of Text II; the beginning of some ppassages in Text I (e.g., check the viewerfols. 1ra, 2ra ); the words ሰላም፡ and ጻድቃን፡ or ኦጻድቃን፡ in Text II. Some corrections interlineally and lines marking erasures; elements of the punctuation signs and of Ethiopic numerals.

1800-1899 Careful, but irregular, nearly crude; by a poorly trained scribe. Broadly spaced, broad, upright to slightly right sloping script. Parallel downstrokes, horizontal tops. Rectangular letter shapes. The letter ጵ has the 6th-order marker set up on the vertical stroke at the top, oriented to the right (e.g., check the viewerfol. 1ra , l.17).
