Provenance
The manuscript had very probably belonged to a church in the Gondar↗ area, from where it was taken by Tewodros II and brought to Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ . It was then looted by the British Napier expedition in 1868.

A note stating that this volume was written by the order of king John I for himself and his children when Sinodā was ʾabuna. To the names of John and Sabla Wangel subsequently has been subsequently added that of their daughter Walatta Rufāʾel .
Text in Gǝʿǝz ነዋ፡ አዘዝነ፡ ንሕነ፡ አእላፍ፡ ሰገድ፡ ወበጸጋ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ዘተሰመይነ፡ ዮሐንስሃ፡ ያውግዙ፡ እንበይነ፡ ዛቲ፡ መጽሐፍነ፡ ዘአጽሐፍናሃ፡ ንሕነ፡ በዘመነ፡ መንግሥትነ፡ ለበቍዔተ፡ ነፍስነ። ከመ፡ ኢያውፅኣ፡ እምቤተ፡ ውሉድነ፡ ዘወለድናሆሙ፡ በሥጋ። መኑሂ፡ እምሰብእ፡ እመሂ፡ ንጉሥ፡ ወእመሂ፡ መኰንን።
