Origin
The handwriting is consistent with an 18th-century dating. The name of Takla Māryām is written in the main hand in the supplication on check the viewerfol. 115rb , following the phrase ገበርኪ፡ ‘your servant’. He plausibly was either the patron, the owner or the donor of the manuscript. Another name, that of Walatta Māryām , is mentioned in the supplication of (a3) , following the phrase አመትከ፡ ‘your servant’. She was perhaps either a later owner or donor of the manuscript. Condition
The leather cover has been replaced. Images, textile or other elements (possibly a mirror in the front board) which were glued on the inner sides of both boards have been removed: remains of glue and of the original cover are still visible on the inner sides of the boards. The parchment is damaged by humidity, especially toward the end of the manuscript. Many leaves are stained with dirt and wax (e.g. check the viewerFolss. 16r, 71r, 116v, ) or with water (check the viewer115rv, 126rv, ). The edges of many leaves have been recently restored with paper (e.g. check the viewer1, 36, 103, 106, ). The text is illegible or barely legible due to effaced ink on check the viewer84r . In general, the manuscript shows traces of intensive use.
