He was the son of nǝguś role: title Śahla Śǝllāse↗ of Šawā↗ and his wife Bazzabbǝš Daǧan↗ . He was the governor of Marḥābete↗ and Salāle↗ throughout 1840s and 1850s. Sayfu Śahla Śǝllāse↗ was an ardent opponent to ʾaṣe role: title Tewodros II↗ who offered a strong resistance for several days but was eventually defeated and had to flee. Some time later, Sayfu Śahla Śǝllāse↗ tried to regain control over Marḥābete↗ , but was killed by Kǝbrāt↗ at Middā↗ .
