Quires IV-XXI: first half of the 18th cent. (?) f. 3 was added at a later stage. Since it is written in the main hand (hand a), it must have been produced at around the same time as the main body of the text block. Quire II is of more recent time (20th cent.?). Quire III may be dated to the 18th cent., along with the main body of the text block.Summary

Text I-1b concludes with an ʾarke-hymn: - ብፁዕ፡ ብእሲ፡ በስመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ትውክልቱ። ... (check the viewer7vb ) Text II-2 includes the hymns: - ʾO-ʾǝgzǝʾtǝyä qǝddǝst dǝngǝl Māryām ʾǝmmu la-ʾIyasus Krǝstos kahāli ... "O my Lady, Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ the Almighty ..." (check the viewer13rb- va) (cp. ChRep ncheck the viewer373 ) - salām laki ʾo-ʾǝgzǝʾtǝyä Māryām qǝddǝst dǝngǝl ʾǝmma madḫǝn wa-ʾǝmma bǝrhān ... "Salutation to you, o my Lady, Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of the Saviour and Mother of the Light ..." (check the viewer13va-14ra ). The miracles of Mary (Text II-4) are numbered. The texts ends suddenly, leaving the last miracle incomplete. Text II-5 comprises 5 strophes which are strophes 1-5 according to GrohHymn pp. 336-53. The miracles of Jesus (Text III) are erroneously numbered. The scribe included parts of the introduction in numbering the miracles; these sections were introduced as mǝʿrāf “chapter” (numbered as 2-3). The first actual miracle starts at the end of "chapter" 3 and is part of "chapter" 4. The sections numbered as 8, 13 and 14 are parts of the preceding miracles (8 is part of the 4th miracle, 13 and 14 are parts of the 8th miracle). Text IV comprises 34 strophes which are strophes 1-31, 33-34 according to GrohHymn pp. 336-53 and one additional (check the viewer149vb- vc):

Condition
The Ms. shows traces of extensive use. The Ms. was rebound. The front board has been attached to the text block in reversed position (previous set of holes are visible at the outer edge). Both borads are broken and repaired. The full leather cover is torn off; remains are preserved on the back board; traces of leather and adhesive are visible on the inner side of both boards. The overback is damaged at the spine and roughly repaired; its turns-ins are nailed on the front board. Holes or tears amended on fols. 2, 4, 26, 29, 34, 129. check the viewer150 is mutilated, cut at the upper margin. Some fols. are affected by humidity (check the viewer130r-136v ). The Ms. consists of at least 4 production units: - f. 3 originates from a different codex; it was cut to the size of this Ms. and sewn onto the stub of the endleaf (fol. 1). - Quires II and III originate from different codices. - It seems likely that quires IV-XV as well as quires XVI- XXI (all written in hand a) were originally included into two separate codices and at a later stage bound together (cp. donors, ruling pattern and palaeographic features).
Binding
Two wooden boards (both boards broken and repaired), previously covered with dark brown tooled leather (remains are preserved on the back board). Overback made of reddish-brown tooled leather. Two pairs of sewing stations.
Binding decoration
Traces of a chain of endband stitches at the spine cover, close to the head of the codex. Small holes are visible on the spine fold of the quires, close to the tail of the codex.

Hand a: Texts I-a, II-2, II-3, II-4, II-5, III, IV (fol. 3, quires IV-XXI). The handwriting appears irregular throughout the Ms. and changes from careful and neat with broadly spaced letters (quires IV-XV), occasionally in smaller script (check the viewer68r-69v , 74r-75v), to mediocre resulting in an uneven script (due to the irregular ruled lines) with narrowly spaced letters (quires XVII-XXI). The quality of rubricated passages also differs (cp. 28v, 68v); often the space left for the name of Mary was not sufficient (cp. 17r, 42v, 68vc, 74vc). Probably the texts were written at several (three?) stages.Hand 3
