Translation:

( ) This book belongs to Mamher Takla Maryam, your son is Qes Bifasem, and Qes Bifasem’s son is Qes Makonnen, and in the reign of Yohannes (IV), he discussed with Dajazmach Aleme and planted Agamsa Gabriel [church] and the church was planted in 7,371 of the year of creation [= 1871 CE], in the year of Luke, the evangelist, in the month of Genbot. Again, in the reign of Menilek, in the governorship of Ras Adilu, Qes Makonnen received the appointment of treasurer-ship of the church with the gift of the land for the church. This letter is written by his younger brother, Memre Hailu. May the one who erases this letter be anathemized like Arias, by the authority of Peter and Paul.

Translation Amharic: ዝመጽሐፍ፡ ዘመምህር፡ ተክለ፡ ማርያም፡ ልጅዎ፡ ቄስ፡ ቢፈጽም። የቄስ፡ ቢፈጽም፡ ልጅ፡ ቄስ፡ መኰነን። ይባል፡ ነበር። እሱ፡ በዮሐንስ መንግሥት፡ ከደጃዝማት፡ ዓለሜ፡ ተነጋግሮ፡አጋምሳ፡ ገብርኤልን፡ ተከለ። በ፯ሽህ፡ ከ፫፻፡ከ፸፩ ዘመን፡ ሲሆን፡ በዘመነ፡ ሉቃስ፡ በወርኃ፡ ግንቦት፡ ተተከለ። ዳግመኛም፡ በምኒልክ፡ መንግሥት፡ በራስ አዲሉ፡ ጉልትነት፡ ቄስ፡ መኮነን፡ የጨውን፡ ግብር፡ አስቀርፎ፡ ቅፍፉን፡ ተቀብሎ፡ ግብዝናውን፡ ሹመቱን፡ በእጁ፡ አድርጎ፡ መራ፡ ሰራ። ይህን ደብዳቤ፡ የጸሐፈው፡መምሬ፡ ኃይሉ፡ ታናሽ ወንድሙ፡ ነው። ዝደብዳቤ፡ ዘፈሐቆ፡ በሥልጣነ፡ ጴጥሮስ፡ ወጳውሎስ፡ ውጉዝ፡ ከመ፡ አርዮስ፡
