Colophon
( ) By the will of God of three persons and one divinity, from whom we gain help and direction on the Way of Destination (ፍኖተ፡ ፍጻሜ፡), we begin the great collection of hymns known as, “Morning Star.” It was copied from manuscripts collected from many sources. The writing of this manuscript began in the reign of our King Ḫāyla Śǝllāse I , lover of God, our teacher of Däbrä Libanos, Bāsǝlyos , brother of Basiliyos, which became archbishop, and our teacher of Bethlehem, Alǝqä Amsalu (baptismal name) Sǝbǝḥatä Maryam. And the scribe of this manuscript is Märigeta Kǝnäfä Rǝgǝb (baptismal name) Wäldä Aklog [the name is erased here and reconstructd from information on f. 110v]. The writing began 8th of Hamle 1947 (= 17 August 1955), at the tenth lunar night

Supplication ( ):
( ) “This Dǝggwa belongs to Märigeta Kǝnäfä Rǝgǝb whose birthplace is Fano Gabri’el, that is Däbrä Mänkǝrat. His father is Märigeta Ataläl (baptismal name) Gäbrä Iyasus. He wrote it with his own hand. O, My Lady, keep me, and save me from the suffering of the body and the soul, your servant, Wäldä Aklog. The one who taught him was Märigeta Yǝheyǝs (baptismal name) Wäldä Ḥawarǝya. The name of his country is Goṭa Kidanä Mǝḥǝrät.”
