The scribe occasionally has to complete a line of text on another line. The challenge is addressed mainly through the selection of an appropriate aspect ratio for the codex combined with an appropriate script size. Where the line of text is still too long, the scribe completes the line of text above the end of the line (e.g., f. 17r, etc.). Occasionally the scribe will try to avoid the problem by writing part of a line in very small print (e.g., f. 35r).
