Period of Activity
He was a Gondarine king who succeeded his nephew Takla Hāymānot I↗ in1708. He came to throne at the instigation of one of the court notables, Yosṭos↗ , who later succeeded him. Shortly after his accession to power, Tewoflos↗ issued a proclamation establishing the doctrine of Qǝbāt as an official teaching of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. This proclamation was challenged by the Tawāḥǝdo party. He faced also the challenges of several pretenders.

He died of illness.
