He was the first marǝd ʾazmāč role: title ↗ of Šawā ↗ who succeeded his father Nagāśi Krǝstos Warada Qāl↗ . He built the town Doqāqit↗ and governed all Šawā ↗ from there. Unlike his father, Sǝbǝstyānos↗ never sought the recognition of the emeperors at Gondar↗ .
