Foundation story
Local tradition claims the foundation in the year of mercy 336. The original founder is said to have been a certain ʾAzzāy Ba-Kʷǝllu↗ (?). Later it is said to be re-established by ʾayta role: title Gabra Dǝngǝl↗ . The written account about the church foundation (MALM-004) differs from the oral story.
