State of preservation

Condition
The boards are splitted in two halves, repaired with metal wire and nails. While creating the holes into the boards for the wire, the bookbinder pierced the bifolia too, until fol. 14. Tears on the parchment has been repaired during the manufacture process using a thread of vegetal origin. The flash side is not well scraped.
Binding
Ethiopic bookbinding with plain wooden boards preserved in its slip case.
Two light brown wooden boards carefully polished on both sides. The signs of the tool are visible. The front board is splitted in two halves, held together by a metal wire. On the outer edge of the lower board a narrow piece of a different kind of wood has been attached with metal nails. In the centre of the lower board there is a hole where it is possible that the threads ended, as it seen in other Ethiopic bookbindings, for example SHOr400 not found in this file.Sewing Stations
4 Small holes are present close to the head and tail of the quires, prabably remains of the tackets. The first bifolio has a protective function. The book is kept inside its two-parts slip case made of stiff leather. Probably the outer case belonged to another manuscript. Inside the flap of the inner case there is a ge'ez incription written in ball-pen.Binding material
