He was one of the most important political figures in Goǧǧām↗ who strongly resisted Tewodros II↗ until his death. He assumed the position of daǧǧāzmāč role: title ↗ basing himself at Dabra Mārqos↗ . Emperor role: title Tewodros II↗ led repeated campaigns against Tadlā Gʷālu in 1857, 1858 and later in 1863 when he inflicted heavy losses on the Goǧǧām↗ troops, but failed to capture him.
