He was born in Waǧ↗ .
Period of Activity
He was a saintly monk active in 1400-1450. He was the founder of the monastery of Dabra Ṣǝmmunā↗ , in eastern Goǧǧām↗ . He received a traditional education at a monastery of Zwāy Ḥāmara Bǝrhān Qǝddus Gabrǝʾel↗ where he was later ordained monk. He was a disciple of ʾabbā role: title ʾƎndrǝyās↗ . Sinodā↗ moved to Goǧǧām↗ during the reign of ʾaṣe role: title Yǝsḥāq↗ where he established Dabra Ṣǝmmunā↗ . During the reign of ʾaṣe role: title Takla Māryām↗ , he was involved in the conflict of succession between Takla Māryām↗ and ʾaṣe role: title Zarʾa Yāʿqob↗ . Consequently, he was exiled to the island of Daq↗ in lake Ṭānā↗ where he died after being tortured and having his hands and feet amputated.
