He was born in 465 at Sozopolis of Pisidia (Asia minor)

He was a patriarch of Antioch between 512-581. He was an anti-Chalcedonian theologian and he had many anti-Chalcedonian writings. Some of his writings were translated into Arabic and subsequently into Gǝʿǝz.

He died on 8 February 538

His name is often omitted, leaving only his title "patriarch of Antioch". Occasionally it is also attributed to other authors.
