He was a prominent member of the ruling elite and nobility of the Ethiopian Empire on the eve of the Muslim invasion of ʾAḥmad↗ . He appears in the historiography of the sixteenth century with various titles. He is mentioned as ʾazzāž role: title ↗ and governor of Šabal↗ , a small region in Goǧǧām↗ , in 1510. He was appointed as bāḥǝr Nagāš role: title ↗ probably in 1524, holding that office for two years. He appears as the only bǝḥt waddad role: title ↗ in the 18th year of the reign of ʾaṣe role: title Lǝbna Dǝngǝl↗ , in 1526. During the Muslim war, Ros Nābiyāt (Rās Bānyāt) ↗ was the first commander of the strategic province of Dawāro↗ where he was defeated. He also led several battles to defend the Christian kingdom from Muslims attacks.
