He was born at Maqet↗ in 1868.
Period of Activity
He was an outstanding Ethiopian traditional church scholar. Lammā Ḫaylu Walda Tārik↗ began his education at the age of tweleve when on his own initiative he learned to read and write at the monastery of Dabra ʾAbuna ʾAron↗ in Maqet↗ . In 1874, he consecrated deacon at Dabra Tābor↗ . He spent more than 20 years wandering to various centres of traditional education. Then after, in 1883 he came to ʾAddis ʾAbabā↗ where he established good contacts with kings and nobilities. Before the Italian war of 1935-1936, ʾalaqā role: title Lammā Ḫaylu Walda Tārik↗ participated in the translation of the New Testament into Amharic commissioned by Ḫayla Śǝllāse I↗ , which was printed privately outside Ethiopia↗ .
