Birth
He was born in ደብረ፡ ገነት፡ ኤልያስ፡↗ between 1892-1893.
Period of Activity
He was a prolific writer with a pronounced background in traditional church education and a pioneer of Ethiopian theatre and Amharic drama. He was first appointed as mač̣ane role: title ↗ and qaññgetā role: title ↗ , later the head of Dǝmaḥ Gännät ʿAlämayyähu Šašu↗ . In 1917/1918 he became dabtarā role: title ↗ and later ʾaggāfāri role: title ↗ of Dabra Gannat ʾAbbo↗ . In 1923/24, he was employed as an Amharic teacher at Mǝnilǝk↗ Secondary School where he started his first literary works.
Death
He died in ʾAddis ʾAbabā↗ between1946-1947.
