Origin
The frequent mention of king ʾIyāsu II and the queen-mother Walatta Giyorgis , and of John XVII , patriarch of Alexandria, check the viewerf. 36v (where the name of the ʾabuna is wanting), shows that this volume was written between 1730 and 1737 .
Provenance
The manuscript had very probably belonged to a church in the Gondar↗ area, from where it was taken by Tewodros II and brought to Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ . It was then looted by the British Napier expedition in 1868.
