Palaeography
Hand 1
Script: Ethiopic
Fine, but irregular. Though the handwriting appears very irregular throughout the Ms. (cp., check the viewer32v-33r ) it is the same as the one of AP-008 and also similar (though not identical) to that of AP-038.The handwriting is characterized by a fine script with tendency to right-sloping and angularly shaped letters. Some distinctive features appear throughout the Ms.: - archaic form of 'one' (፩, triangular upwards-oriented) - short hairlines extending horizontal elements of some letters (esp., የ and ይ ) - strongly pronounced shading (esp. መ, በ, ን, ዘ, የ, ደ) - some letters appear in a forked shape (esp. ኃ, ር, ን, ገ, ጋ) - the hook vowel marker of ቱ is attached at the upper part of the downstroke - ክ shows a very distinct vowel marker - the right loop of ሠ (in all vowel orders) is of a very small size - letters ደ and ይ appear in a triangular shape - ጥ is written with long curves.
Ink: Black, red
