Binding
Parchment, 160 x 170 x 20–40 mm. No covers. Two sheets of heavy parchment sewn together. The parchment is folded so that ten panels are available for artwork and text. Unlike Weiner codices 62–65, the back of the parchment has not been scored with a knife to maintain the fold. The backs of the panels are blank. Though the parchment is dirty, it appears to be new and firm. The panels are laid out in pairs: the left side contains a panel of text, a selection from the Psalms; the right side contains an illumination. This appears to be a work manufactured for sale to tourists. The text and the illuminations have nothing to do with one another. More specifically, the text folio is laid out in two columns. One large haräg of interweaving rope patterns stands across the top of the panel. Lines 1–4,11–13, and the bottom 2 or three lines are written in red ink. The hand is a painter’s hand rather than a scribal hand. Likewise, the panels with illumination are all bounded by a red or black line ca 2 cm from the edges.
