Binding
Four Coptic chain stitches attached with bridle attachments to rough-hewn boards. The front board is split in two directions and in danger of breaking; it has been sewn together at two places. In the center of the inside cover, a small rectangle (52 x 30 mm) of wood has been carved out of the cover to hold a mirror or some such. The binding appears to have some original elements as well as some secondary.
