He was the traditional Ethiopian scholar and the main informant of the great scholar and father of Ethiopian studies Ludolf↗ , claimed to be a descendant of a famous Amhara lineage from Makāna Śǝllāse↗ . When Gorgoryos↗ converted to Catholic faith, the Jesuit patriarch Mendes↗ appointed him as his secretary. Following the abdication of ʾaṣe role: title Susǝnyos↗ , ʾabbā role: title Gorgoryos↗ fled to Rome ↗ , in 1634, where he met Ludolf↗ , in Europe↗ . He taught Ludolf↗ Gǝʿǝz and Amharic.
