He was a 14th century metropolitan of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church who arrived in 1337 during the reign of ʿAmda Ṣǝyon I . He was the successor of ʾabuna Yoḥannǝs II . His name appears in five hagiographies of medieval saints including Gadla Baṣalota Mikāʾel, Gadla Filǝṗṗos (za-Dabra Libānos),Gadla ʾAnorewos , Gadla ʾAron (za-Dabra Dāret) and Gadla Sāmuʾel (Dabra Wagag). He was devoted together with some of the leaders of the local monasticism to evangelize the non-Christian regions of Šawā↗ , Faṭagār↗ , Waǧ↗ ,Dāmot↗ , Ǝnnāryā↗ and Ifāt↗ . He was in conflict with King ʾAmda Ṣǝyon I because of his marriage with the wife of his father. Finally, he was expelled to Egypt in around 1345.
