He was a prince, royal councillor and provincial governor. He was the son of Śahla Śǝllāse↗ , born and brought up at ʾAnkobar↗ . He emerged as a prominent military leader immediately after the death of his father, Śahla Śǝllāse↗ . In1847-49, he campaigned in Salāle↗ and the neigbouring districts of ʾAbbičuu↗ . A few years later, he was captured by ʾaṣe role: title Tewodros II↗ and was confined at Maqdalā↗ . After his release by the British in 1868, he returned to Šawā↗ and submitted to ʾaṣe role: title Mǝnilǝk II↗ to whom he was loyal until his death.
