Period of Activity
He was a metropolitan of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church who succeeded ʾabuna Gabrǝʾel↗ after a long vacancy of the Ethiopian Episcopal throne in 1481 and his tenure lasted to 1500. He arrived during the reign of King ʾƎskǝndǝr↗ in 1481 together with another Coptic bishop Mārqos [I]↗ . He played an important role for the development of Gǝʿǝz literature during his episcopate.
Death
He died during the first decade of the sixteenth century in the reign of King Nāʿod (ʾAnbasā Baḍar) ↗ and was buried at Bararā↗
