He was a learned scholar and judge of Gondar↗ in the first half of the 19th century. He was in contact with many European travellers and scholars who visited Gondar↗ in his time. He copied the royal chronicles which were commissioned by Rüppell↗ in 1833 and catalogued by Goldschmidt↗ in 1897.
