He was one of the most important saints of the Aksumite period and renowned as one of the early founders of monasticism and asceticism in Ethiopia↗ . He came from Constantinople↗ during the reign of King ʾƎlla Gabaz . He was chiefly active in Sarāye↗ and ʾAkkala Guzāy↗ . He was said to be the founder of the monastery of Dabra Libānos↗ .
