Birth
He was born in ʾAnkobar↗ in 1825.
Period of Activity
He was a renowned Ethiopian scholar and theologian. He studied at various traditional schools in Dabra Warq↗ , Gondar↗ and ʾAnkobar↗ . He was a follower of śost lǝdat. Since the situation of the followers of śost lǝdat deteriorated after the council of Boru Meda↗ in 1878, he exiled to Karan↗ where he taught Gǝʿǝz in the Catholic Mission. In 1887, Kǝfla Giyorgis left Karan↗ for Rome↗ where he was invited to teach Gǝʿǝz at the Ethiopian college in Vatican City↗ where he had an opportunity to learn Latin and Italian, and he became an informant and consultant to Ignazio Guidi↗ . Having left Rome↗ in 1897, he went to Jerusalem↗ where he encountered Kidāna Wald Kǝfle↗ who became his disciple. During the elven years they spent, Kǝfla Giyorgis taught Kidāna Wald Kǝfle↗ sharing with him his vast theological knowledge.
Death
He died in Jerusalem↗ in 1908.
