አትናቴዎስ፡ ʾAtnātewos ʾabuna role: title
Period of Activity
He was the metropolitan of Ethiopian Orthodox Church who was consecrated by Demetrius II of Alexandria in 1867. He was the immediate successor of ʾabuna Salāmā III . He was consecrated through the official request of ʾaṣe role: title Yoḥannǝs IV whom he consecrated as King of Kings of Ethiopia in 1872 at ʾAksum Ṣǝyon↗ . Following the conflict between ʾaṣe role: title Yoḥannǝs IV and Egyptian, he leaned towards his land. This situation created a hostile relation between the two and later he formed an alliance with the strong rival of ʾaṣe role: title Yoḥannǝs IV King Mǝnilǝk II .
Death
He died on 1876 and was buried at ʿĀdwā↗ .
