He was a metropolitan of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church who succeeded ʾabuna Mārqos [I] ↗ in 1547 after a long vacancy of the Ethiopian Episcopal throne. He was a contemporary of King Galāwdewos↗ . He was succeeded by ʾabuna Ṗeṭros↗ who had been his coadjustor.

He died in 1559
