Extras
-
This Psalter seems never to have included Wǝddāse Māryām and ʾAnqaṣa bǝrhān.
-
The covers are damaged. The front board is broken top to bottom, with the grain, about 3.5 cm from the gutter, the back board is broken in about the same place, but repaired with metal wire
-
Fol. 43r An elaborate and colorful cross and the text (in red ink), “half is here,” is written in the lower fore edge margin, marking the midpoint of the Psalms.
-
words of text are written interlinearly, folss. 33v, 50v, 69v, ; and lines of text are written interlinearly, 2r, 12r, 12v, 14v, , etc.; and interlinearly with a symbol (┴) marking the location where the text is to be inserted, f. 12v, line 20 ; erasure markings are visible, 47v, ; text has been removed, e.g., 31r
-
The scribe regularly has to complete a line of text on another line. Much of the problem is addressed through the selection of an appropriate aspect ratio for the codex combined with an appropriate script size. But, where the line of text is still too long, the scribe reduces the font size at the end of lines to avoid having to go onto the next line (throughout). This scribe also will complete the line of text above the end of the line (e.g., fols. 2r, 3r, 4r ).
