State of preservation
deficient
Condition
The sewing thread is broken in many points and the quires shift one onto the others. The long stripe of cloth that serves to protect the edges of the codex is almost detatched from the cover. The leaves are in good conditions. The manufacture of the parchment is very accurated, the surface is smooth and without traces of hairs. The leaves are stained with dirt along the lower margin showing the signs of intense use.
Binding
Ethiopic bookbinding with wooden boards and a plain textile chemise, preserved in its slip case.
The upper board is broken in two halves held togheter by loops of thread passing through the holes done into the boards. A fracture is forming on the lower board. Chemise in plain white cloth. A strip of red fabric lined with white fabric is sewn to the headcap and it extends in order to cover the three edges of the codex. Both ends of the strip are decorated with colorful embroidery.Sewing Stations
4 Small holes are present close to the head and tail of the quires, prabably remains of the tackets. The first quire has a protective function. The codex is preserved in its two-part slip case made of stiff leather.Binding material

Pricking
- (Subtype: pattern) The layout corresponds to the pattern I defined by D. Nosnitsin: the text is written above the first ruled line, the vertical and horizontal pricks are visible and they are located in the margins. The pricks are small, round and precise. Probably, the pricking was made opening the quires in the middle and piercing the folios together.
