He was born at Assagǝrt↗ in 1913.
Period of Activity
He was an eminent scholar, prolific Ethiopian historian and a statesman. He received both a church education and a modern education. He served the Imperial government in various posts from 1941-1974. He also served the Military regime, as a Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, in its eraly years. But he retired soon from civil service and devoted his time to various initiatives he considered valuable.
Death
He died at ʾAddis ʾAbabā↗ in 2000.
