He was the son of daǧǧāmāč role: title Kǝnfu Ḫaylu ↗ who ruled Dambǝyā↗ province from 1831 until his death in 1839.Through him, Gārad Kǝnfu was related to ? Tewodros II↗ . He is noted as one of the rebels against Tewodros II↗ , in Dambǝyā↗ and Walqāyt↗ . In 1860, he emerged as as an ally of Nǝguśe Wäldä Mikaʾel↗ , at the time he was the most prominent opponent of Tewodros II↗ . In a skirmish outside Gondar↗ , Gārad killed Walter Chichele Plowden↗
Death
He, in turn, was killed in revenge by Tewodros II↗ in a battle in Waldǝbba↗ in1860.
