Foundation story
Local tradition claims that the church was founded in the time of King Gabra Masqal↗ , the tābot was brought by King ʾAlʿāmedā↗ .
History
history: Dabr. Aksumite remains have been found in the vicinity. The recent church of tabot: Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ was built in the time of ; before, (?). The church of St. tabot: George↗ stands on the rock and is hardly accessible. The structures visible in the rock under the church of George (?) are said to have been a church dedicated to tabot: Qirqos↗ (now deserted and inaccessible). In the valley, there is an associated church dedicated to tabot: Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ , built in King Ḫāyla Śǝllāse↗ 's time (1930-1950?; but it was founded by grāzmāč role: title Mašašā↗ ).
Tābots
tabot: () .Entered as Tābots of 2 of tabot: George↗ (in the upper church) and 1 tabot: Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ (below). The tābot of tabot: Qirqos↗ is not there any more (reportedly stolen). The old dedication might be reflected in the name of the church, Dabra Zakāryās (tabot: Prophet Zechariah↗ ?).
