( en ) [check the viewer17va- vb]: This book (belongs) to mamhǝr ʾAskāla Māryām, son of ʾabuna Walda ʿAbiyä ʾƎgziʾ, who spread out (his) wings like angels, which was seen by a secluded hermit in Wal(dǝ)bba, and (who) donated it to the sanctuary of ʾabuna ʾAragāwi, so that it may be for him the salvation of (his) body and soul; and (to) his brother ʾabbā Gabra ʾIyasus, and to his son Takla Māryām. Oh my fathers and my brothers, do not forget us, each one (of you say) Paternoster at the time of the Mass and the prayer – (you) priests of Dāmmo, the exalted, the second heaven, the abode of the watchful angels, which ʾAragāwi has chosen, fenced off (by angelic) hosts, by praise and by laudation.

Palaeography
Hand 1
Script: Ethiopic
Careful, regular, by a well-trained hand. Despite the initial impression that parts of the text were written by a different hand, it seems to be incorrect. Difference in the quality of the handwriting (finer letters with more space between them / more massive letters placed closer to one another) may be due to the fact that the scribe used different pens.
Ink: Black; red.
Rubrication: Nomina sacra; incipits and headings of the texts (sometimes alternately in black and red lines); the word mǝʿrāf, numbers, x-shaped signs and incipits of the chapters; elements of the punctuation signs and Ethiopic numerals; names of the donor and scribe. On the incipit page of each Gospel, a few lines are rubricated (in groups of two lines, alternating with black lines).
Date: Second half of the 19th century.
Scribe: ʾabba Gabra Śǝllāse (s. colophon).Second half of the 19th century.Hand 2
Script: Ethiopic
