(‘I did not find the voice {i.e. “word”} ḫankari in Gǝʿǝz. There is the Tǝgrǝñña verb ḥankärä “to cook the bread for brewing”, cf.

, traditionally a female job, but in monstaries, due to the rule of
seclusion, it is performed by monks. It would be far-fetched to correct ḫankari with ḫangari from ḫangärä “carrying on the shoulders”, even if according to

beside “to limp” (cf.

) it can mean “to be a leg to someone that has not a leg” and adds
“it is found in the gädl, in the tammǝr (miracle) and in literature.’
