ማር፡ ገላውዴዎስ፡ ዘነግሠ፡ በኢትዮጵያ፡ ዓባይ፡ እምጽንፋ፡ እስከ፡ ጽንፋ፡ ‘Mar Gälawdewos who reigned in the greater Ethiopia from border to borderen’ 3 § 3 (ed.), 6 § 3 (tr.) (‘The chronicler bestows the title ማር (Mar ) for the king throughout the text particularly when he needs to sanctify the king as a saint. The term ማር originates from the Syriac and it means ‘Lord’. 163; 57; 12; ; 392. It has also been designated for two successors of Gälawdewos, King Minas and King Śärṣä Dǝngǝl.
