He was born at Ǝndode↗ in 1909.
Period of Activity
He was a statesman and writer. Ḥaddis ʾAlamāyyahu pursued traditional church education up to the level of zemā-chants at home under his maternal grandfather ʿAlämu Śǝyyum↗ . He then proceeded to ደብረ፡ ገነት፡ ኤልያስ፡↗ , then to Dabra Warq↗ and finally to Dima Giyorgis↗ where he graduated in qǝne. In 1925/26 he came to ʾAddis ʾAbabā↗ and joined the Swedish school where he became acquainted with the English language. He served the imperial government in various posts. But Ḥaddis ʾAlamāyyahu's more enduring contribution to Ethiopian society lies in his literary activity.
Death
He died at ʾAddis ʾAbabā↗ in 2003.
