He was born in the vicinity of ʾAddis ʾAbabā↗ in 1901.
Period of Activity
He was sent to a church education, where he learnt the rudiments of rote-reading and recitation of various Gǝʿǝz religious texts up to the completion of the Ethiopic Psalter, but did not attend any modern school. As he became versed in reading and writing Amharic, he was employed in the Ministry of pen at a relatively early age for such an important Ministry in that period. In 1935, he rose to a Secretary-General of the Ministry of Pen. Following the defeat of the Ethiopian forces at the battle of May Ḉäʿa↗ , he escaped to the rural areas. He rejoined the government service after the war in 1941 and served the Ministry of Finance and Interior. Finally, he became deputy ? in 1955 in the Ministry of Pen.
Death
He was killed in the Green Salon of the Gannata Lʿǝul palace during the abortive Coup d'état in 1960.
