“Our Holy mother Walatta Petros, died in her 40th year, in the year 7,165 on the 11th epact and the 19th Matqa [Jewish New Year, lit. Shofar, which is taken to be the analogue of the bell in Christian culture], in the fifth year of the reign of our Emperor Yohannes, lover of God in the year of Matthew, the evangelist. We wrote this book of Gadl because of a spirit of jealousy arose about our holy mother, Walatta Petros, to be read on the 17th of Ḫǝdar.” The owner is mentioned, ገብራ ያዕቆብ, Gabra Yaqob, also mentioned 35v, and 93r (where the wife is mentioned, ሜልኮል)
