Origin
1700-1749 (dating on palaeographic grounds)
Provenance
The manuscript does not contain an ownership note from Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ , but as it was part of the collection of looted manuscripts brought to Britain by the British Napier expedition in 1868, had very probably belonged to a church in the Gondar↗ area, from where it was taken by Tewodros II and brought to Madḫāne ʿĀlam↗ .

Partly erased colophon indicating the name of the sponsor, a woman, and the church to which the manuscript belonged. All proper names have been erased. Wright describes this colophon as a later note, and while its hand seems to differ from the main hand, the careful writing and text dividers consistent with the text dividers used throughout suggest that it was part of the initial process of production.

Extras

Mentioned in the supplications throughout are Mǝʿzāra Krǝstos , his daughters Lāhya Dǝngǝl , Lǝbǝsta Krǝstos , and his son Takla Hāymānot (e.g. check the viewerFols. 69vb, 108va ). The names of the daughters have been added later between the lines. All names have often been erased. The colophon indicates that a woman sponsored the production of the manuscript and donated it to a church. Her name has been erased, but it might be speculated that she was a family member of the persons mentioned throughout - possibly Lāhya Dǝngǝl , as the last two characters of her name seem to have been ግል.
