I let it be written, I, sinner and wrongdoer, Walda Dǝngǝl, when I was overcome by love for the Vita of our father Takla Hāymānot, knowing that before (my time) there had been no Vita of our father Takla Hāymānot at (the church of) Dabra Mikāʾel Qarsabar, so that it may serve for the benefit of my soul. The aid of this righteous (man) is the adornment of the glory of the sanctuary. May the power of his prayer cover us in the day of sadness and need. The scribe (of this book) Walda Śǝllāse of Dabra Dāmmo, its commissioner Walda Dǝngǝl, its reader and its interpreter, and the one who hears it with the ear of the Spirit – may He have mercy upon all of them in the Kingdom of Heaven; and also its gabaz Dǝmḍä Mikāʾel. I also let it be written in order that it may be for me a medicine for the body and soul. He who steals it or erases (its text) is excommunicated by the authority of Peter and Paul and by the word of our father bishop salāma. And do not forget Walda Dǝngǝl; each of you (recite for him) the Paternoster. Amen and amen. So be it, so be it.
