History
history: It was a large historical region (possibly once a Muslim sultanate), was located in the south-east of Šawā↗ on the northern shore of the ʾAwāš↗ river. In the 14th-15th centuries, it was progressively integrated into the Christian empire. The region held a strategic position between the Christian empire and the southern Muslim sultanates. In the beginning of the sixteenth century, Faṭagār came back under the Muslim control, under which it remained even after the death of ʾAḥmad↗ . During his attempt to reconquer the region ? Galāwdewos↗ was killed in 1559.
