   Text in Amharic

   The note is written in Gǝʿǝz and Amharic in a fine hand. According to it, priest Takla Hāymānot owner bought the Ms. for 50 bǝrr on behalf of the community of Qirqos church in ʿĀddigrāt in 7308 year of the world (= 1808 A.D.), in the year of John, during the reign of King Mǝnǝlik. The sellers were ʾabbā Ḍotā Madḫǝnu and ʾato ʾƎmbāyya, representing the monastery Dabra ʾIyosyās. Additionally, the witnesses, the judge of the transaction and the battle of ʿAdwā, which took place in the same year, are mentioned. The two dates do not fit with each other because the scribe probably forgot to write number 80 before 8. This would give 7388 year of the world which corresponds to 1896 A.D. ^{when: 1896} and the year of John when the battle of ʿAdwā took place.
